The Kislak Center holds many unique printed books and extensive manuscript collections. The book collection is rich in primary resources supporting the study of philosophy, history, literature, and science, and includes items dating from the fifteenth century. The lives and times of several artists, writers, performers, and scholars are chronicled in the Library's modern manuscript collections. The Zweig Collection of music manuscripts was digitised with the support of the Derek Butler Trust. The British Library’s Hebrew manuscripts collection is one of the finest and most important in the world. The collection is a vivid testimony of the creativity and intense scribal activities of Eastern and Western Jewish communities for over. The Book of Kells, the Book of Durrow and the Book of Armagh are among Ireland’s greatest treasures but these iconic manuscripts are only part of the Library's richly diverse holdings. We continue to add to our collections, building on existing strengths and advancing into new areas of scholarship. The Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections is Cornell’s principal repository of rare books, manuscripts and archival materials in history, literature, music, the arts, science, natural history, and technology.
